Gerard McLauchlan graduated from the University of Glasgow, Scotland in 2006. Following this he completed an internship in private practice before returning to Glasgow to complete a 3y ECVIM residency in Internal Medicine.
He is a European and Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine. Gerard remained at the University of Glasgow where he was Senior Lecturer in Internal Medicine and Director of both the Internship and Residency Programme.
He then completed a 12 month sabbatical working in the Interventional Radiology Service at the Animal Medical Center in New York under the supervision of Chick and Allyson. Following this he moved to Fitzpatrick Referrals Oncology and Soft Tissue hospital near London to establish a dedicated IR service.
Gerard has just authored the new BSAVA manual chapter on Interventional Radiology. While interested in all aspects of IR his current research work is focused on the field of interventional Oncology. He is also currently treasurer of the European Society of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
